In 2020, at the height of the global COVID-19 pandemic and a mental health crisis facing the NYPD with a spate of suicides within our ranks, the NYPD Health & Wellness Unit, under the guidance and leadership of Deputy Commissioner Bob Ganley, Inspector Mark Wachter, and Sergeant Jimmy Hall, commissioned the creation of an NYPD Golf Team. We formed with a mission to serve our members, both uniformed and civilian, active and retired, with an outlet to de-stress and foster positive and healthy interactions through the game of golf. The main purpose of the board which governs our team is to facilitate that mission and to ensure it is unwavering for years to come. Our active members live all across the New York region, from Staten Island to Montauk, from Brooklyn up through the Bronx to Putnam Orange and Westchester counties. We have retired members who call their homes various cities throughout the United States and the World. We are bound by the mission to serve the citizens we protect as well as each other and we are joined together through the game of golf.
